Hi everyone! Just thought we would post up some answers for questions frequently asked about us and our services. Hope this helps!
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
1. What do you do?
We are a community palliative care service, which means that we have a team of doctors, nurses, counsellors, and volunteers who visit patients who are terminally ill in their homes. We help relieve physical symptoms, and provide psychosocial and spiritual support to patients as well as their family members.
2. Do you have an inpatient hospice where my loved one can stay?
No, we do not have an inpatient facility at the present moment. Instead, we will make visits to your own home and help patients and their family members or caregivers to manage living with their illness.
3. Do you provide caregivers?
No, we do not have caregivers who will stay in the patients' homes to look after them. The hospice team will make home visits as needed to manage symptoms and give the best supportive care to the patients and their family.
4. Do you have an equipment rental service?
No, we only loan out equipment to patients under our care according to their needs, and we do not charge rental.
5. What kind of patients do you provide palliative care for?
We will see anyone who is seriously ill with progressive, life-limiting illnesses with palliative care needs. A referral from the doctor currently caring for them is needed – you can get a copy of the referral form at www.aspacmalaysia.org.
6. What are your charges, and how do you get your funding?
Our services are free, because we believe that everyone has the right to access palliative care, regardless of socioeconomic status. We rely primarily on generous donations from the general public to maintain our services, so please help us to spread the word.
7. How do I help?
Please go to www.aspacmalaysia.org/donate for details on how to donate to help sustain our services. If you wish to volunteer your skills/time, please drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
